Choose the Right Sandal for Your Feet
Depending on where you shop for your shoes, many times you are on your own for finding the right fit for your feet.  While sneakers and other enclosed shoes are easy to fit because of the way the shoe feels on the foot, sandals can be a bit trickier to fit.  Yet sandals have been around for centuries as the most common and fashionable footwear and it has become apparent during all those years of perfecting the sandal what to look for in order to find a good fit.  To find a sandal that fits your foot properly, follow these guidelines.

Because the toes are exposed in sandals, it can really throw people off when they are trying them on their feet.  They can’t just be thrown on the foot and they either fit or they don’t!  With sandals, it can be difficult to know what size to buy and how the foot should rest on the sole of the shoe.

When you shop for your sandals, you most likely look for what you find fashionably appealing.  You notice the style of the sandal as well as the color.  When you get ready to try on your sandals, make sure the first thing you consider is the comfort of your foot.  If your feet aren’t comfortable, you aren’t likely to wear the sandals and it isn’t worth making an investment in them.  Because sandal can be worn for formal occasions, during sports and even while hiking, you want to make sure that whatever you are going to wear on your feet for whatever reason is comfortable.

The first thing you want to observe for comfort when you are trying on a sandal is to see if it offers adequate support.  Make sure the arch of your foot has plenty of support.  Arch support affects how you walk and your posture.  If you are buying sandals that are made from cork, you will not feel the arch support immediately.  These types of sandals are designed to conform to your foot.  Make sure that the soles of any sandals you are considering are thick.  The will offer more support and protection for your foot.  Also, make sure that there aren’t any areas on the design of the sandal that rubs unnaturally against your skin.  Not only will areas that rub hurt and possibly blister or bleed, but they will be seen while you are wearing your sandals.

When deciding on a size for your sandals, choose the size where the sole of the shoe is a bit longer than your foot. Your feet should never go over the edges of the sandals.  Not only is this look unattractive, it can expose your skin to any dangerous debris you might be walking on.

Finally, make sure that your sandal straps fit securely.  Don’t confuse secure with too tight, though.  It is possible to wear sandal straps so tight that they can cut into the skin or even slow down circulation.  You want straps that are secure yet comfortable.

Remember to look for good arch support, thick soles, comfortable yet secure straps and overall comfort when you make your sandal selection.  Have the sole of the sandal a bit larger than your foot for maximum comfort and protect and you’re ready to strut your stuff in your new sandals.
