Most shoes close themselves around your feet, but sandals actually are open air. They are usually made of straps of varying thicknesses and materials. They can be made of rope, rubber, leather, wood or a material called tatami. There are many variations including mules and flip-flops.  Some you have to where a special sock and some you simply can wear with bare feet.

Finding good sandals isn't difficult.  There are a ton of options out there for every person. As I noted above there are a lot of different styles and materials.  I fell in love with Tiva's years ago because why?  Because they simply felt good!  Plus..  they are very durable which is important to me.  I can tromp through water or anything and they survive and continue to look good.

There are good sandals out there for every occasion too.  There are some sandals you'll wear all the time.. others just for special occasions or times of the year.

Each Sandal should come with care instructions so you can maintain them.  A good sandal can last for years.  I have to get new Tiva's every year or two only because...  I wear them ALL the TIME!   So they are bound to wear out.. but it's easy to pick up a new pare.

I don't mind spending the extra money for the best brand because I know from experience you get what you pay for.
